Yeah!!! Our boy nursery makeover is finally complete!!! With less 2 weeks to go till baby #3’s due date, I am doing a happy dance that this nursery makeover is ready for our bundle of joy. I’ve been sharing sneak peaks of the makeover on Intsagram, but I am so excited to show you the finished results.
This room was our oldest daughter’s room. With the new addition to our family we decided to move the girls into the same room. The violet walls and hot pink curtains weren’t going to cut it for our baby boy.

What a difference a few weeks makes!! I absolutely love how this nursery makeover turned out. This is my first time really decorating a nursery.
For our first two children we didn’t find out the gender, I know we are in the minority doing that. However, we wanted to make it a surprise. So, when it came to decorating the nursery for the girls, we didn’t do much. This time we found out the gender and were shock it’s a BOY!
Since we were moving the nursery into our daughter’s room, we decided a full room makeover was in order. YAY!!
Our goal was to design a soft gray and teal safari themed nursery. I believe we achieved just that without going over the top with the safari theme.
I must say near the end of this nursery makeover I said to Lynn, “I’m a little DIY’d out.” I did a lot of DIY projects for this room. Many late nights followed by early mornings wore me out a bit. However, it was all worth it.
My Favorite Parts
My most favorite part has to be the Modern Geometric Giraffe Head. I got this animal bust from one of my favorite places to shop, Hobby Lobby. To make the head more of a focal point over the crib, I took an empty frame and added painted wood planks inside it. The planks create a backdrop for the giraffe head and add accent colors to the room.
Another part of this nursery makeover that I’m proud how it came out are the Cigar Box Shadow Boxes. I got these cigar boxes from my brother who works at a convenience store for free. Making them over was simple, I painted the inside and decoupaged scrapbooking paper on the outside. The safari animals were toys that I sprayed white.
I also created a little bookshelf for the nursery using a Wood Crate I purchased on sale at Michael’s. I stained the wood crate and added painted legs I got at Lowes. This bookshelf is at the prefect level for a crawling little boy.
Nursery Makeover Complete…Now We Wait
We are waiting for the most important part to this nursery to arrive…the baby! I can’t wait to meet my son, hold him for the first, and see what he looks like.
I’m looking forward to making many wonderful memories with my son in his nursery.
